International Civil Aviation Organization to Help Zvartnots

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Vazgen Sargssian Monday received President of the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization Asad Kotaid and Regional Director of ICAO Christian Igle. The delegation was on a fact-finding visit to Armenia.

Kotaid stressed the importance of Armenia’s geographical location in the implementation of the "Caucasian Transport Corridor" Program which will allow Armenia to expand its cooperation with civil aviation organizations of various countries. Kotaid offered ICAO’s support in operating the cargo terminal at Yerevan’s Zvartnots international airport.

President Robert Kocharian also met with Kotaid and Igle.

Kocharian stressed Armenia’s interest in continued cooperation with ICAO.

Kotaid presented his proposals regarding the implementation of the Caucasus Transport Corridor Program. Kocharian said all proposals would be given careful consideration. The Armenian president vowed that Armenia–as an ICAO member–will contribute to the strengthening and development of this organization as much as possible.
