Armenian Greek Bank Officer Unions to Expand Cooperation

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Trade Unions of Bank Officers of Armenia and Greece announced the launching of a long-term joint program. A delegation of the Greek OTOE Federation of Bank Trade Unions and the OTOE Institute of Labor visited Yerevan to establish relations with the trade unions of bank officers and discuss the program of training bank officers in Armenia.

The delegation included OTOE Vice-President Tsukalas–President of the OTOE Institute of Labor Lakkas–his assistant–Tsarkolias–and Regional Representative of the International Federation of Trade Unions of Commercial Workers–Bank Officers and Technicians Vinogradova.

Established in 1995–the Greek OTOE FBTU embraces 90 bank officers in the country and plays a decisive role in the process of the labor relations development in the country’s banking sector–credit system development and maintenance of political stability in the country.

The OTOE FBTU and the Institute of Labor gained wide experience in implementing programs of training of bank officers in many countries. The Federation and the Institute of Labor signed an agreement with the Greek government under which the OTOE is to implement training programs in Armenia and Georgia. The agreement is to be put into practice within the framework of the Technical Assistance Protocols signed by the Greek–Armenian and Georgian governmen’s.

The first seminar–which is to be held in Athens this year–will be attended by bank officers from Armenia and Georgia as well as by some Bank Trade Unions officials.

The program of the seminar will focus on the issues of trade unions’ activities in the banking sector. The participants in the seminar will also be initiated into the trends of global banking.
