First Performance Under “Joy to Children” Program Put On At “Arabkir” Medical Center

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Union of the Puppet Art Workers of Armenia performed at the Puppet Theater for the first time under the Joy to Children program at the Arabkir medical center on July 28.

UPAW Chairman Armen Safarian said that under the Joy to Children program sponsored by the "Nushikian" Association–the puppeteers will visit medical centers and entertain children who are taking long courses of treatment. According to Safarian–a patient’s mood plays an important role in his/her treatment–and doctors can achieve high results with programs with puppet theaters.

The next such performance under the program will be organized in the next few days for patients at the Children’s Department of the Oncology Research Center.

The UPAW was established in 1992 and is a member of the International Union of Puppet Art Workers. Each winter the actors at the UPAW Puppet Theater visit lonely old people and bed-ridden children and implement speech and thought development programs for children at special schools.
