YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On September 13–the first meeting of the three-day session of the National Assembly of the second convocation elected member of parliament Yuri Bakhshian representing the Unity faction to the position of Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly. The post had been vacant since Albert Bazeyan of the same faction was appointed Mayor of Yerevan.
Bakhshian–who had led the parliamentary standing commission for state and legal issues up to his new appointment–stressed the need for introducing the institution of parliamentary hearings in order to raise the parliament’s supervisory function.
