By the Fund’s efforts the afore-mentioned week-long courses were started in Yerevan September 27. The participants in the courses will discuss the international legislation on refugees and problems of refugees residing in Armenia. Participating in the courses will be representatives of the public organizations "Mission to Armenia,"Center of Civil Social Development,"Refugees’ Fund,"Fund of Maternity of Armenia," as well as officials from the Ministry of Defense–Ministry of Social Welfare and UNHCR Armenia Office.

Alaverdian also reported that the action is aimed at combining efforts of relevant organizations in holding joint discussions concerning the situation and demanding that the government adopt a program regarding refugees. Alaverdian expressed optimism that by the end of 2000 the government will have adopted a program and pursue coordinated refugee policy.
