Member of Parliament Vahan Zatikian Suddenly Dies

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Member of the "Unity" faction and Council of the Republican Party of Armenia–deputy Vahan Zatikian died suddenly on the night of October 8.

Zatikian was born on October 22 1956. In 1995-1999 he has been a member of the Armenian Parliament of the second convocation. He was also nominated on the slate of the "Republic" bloc. In 1995-1997 he became a member of the "Republic" parliamentary faction. He was a member of the "Yerkrapah" deputy group from October 20–1997 to May 1999–when the powers of the Parliament of the second convocation ended.

Zatikian worked as Head of the Shahumian District Executive Committee. At the elections to local government bodies in 1996 he was elected head of Yerevan’s Malatia-Sebastia borough.

At the parliamentary elections on May 30–Zatikian was elected deputy of Parliament from election district No. 16 (Malatia-Sebastia). He was also running for Parliament on the Unity bloc’s slate. After being elected to Parliament–Zatikian resigned as head of the Malatia-Sebastia borough. When in Parliament–Zatikian was a member of the Parliamentary Committee for State and Legal Issues. He was elected vice-chairman of the interim parliamentary commission set up to study the effectiveness of utilization of imported energy sources–generated energy volumes and credits allocated to the energy sector in 1992-1995.
