ARF Bloc Asks Parliament to Ensure Fair Elections

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–With upcoming local elections to be held October 24–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation block in the Armenian Parliament is asking Parliamentary leaders to take part in forming committees to follow up on election procedure and the eventual results. This request was brought forth by Aghvan Vartanian–a member of the ARF bloc–during the October 12 session of Parliament.

In his speech Vartanian stated–"Taking into account the situation prior to the election–and knowing the importance the upcoming local elections carry–we are asking that the National Assembly as a whole make the upcoming elections a top priority." It is the belief of the ARF bloc that "the people have to be convinced that the President–the National Assembly–the entire government is striving to hold fair–democratic elections for the people–where the people’s choice will prevail."

The ARF bloc believes that with the work of the Parliamentary leadership–the public’s trust will be regained and a fair–democratic government will prevail.
