ARS Takes Part in NGO Conference of in Seoul

WATERTOWN–Mass–As previously announced–the ARS is participating in the 1999 Seoul International Conference of NGOs with two delegates. The Conference–which started on Oct. 10–will conclude its sessions on Saturday–Oct. 16. This important gathering of Non-Governmental Organizations active in the United Nations–is conducting its deliberations under the slogan "Inspire–Empower–Act!"

The ARS delegates–Seta Hadeshian and Helen Merdjanian–along with more than 500 other delegates from around the world–attended the formal opening of the Conference by the President of the Republic of South Korea–who welcomed the representatives of UNICEF–UNDP–UNIFEM and all delegates–wishing them success in their deliberations on issues that will define the role of NGOs in the 21st century.

The ARS–through its delegates–is bringing its contribution to the discussions on human and minority rights–social and youth-related issues–participating in plenary sessions and discussion groups–presenting their views based on the Armenian experience in both the Homeland and the Diaspora.
