Ashtarak Aparan Highway Opens Ahead of Schedule

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The 32-km Ashtarak-Aparan highway was opened under the Highway Rehabilitation Program recently. World Bank Highway Programs Armenia Office Manager Andreas Bonde said that the construction of the given section of the road carried out by the "Motor Transport & Roads" state-owned company was completed a month ahead of schedule. The World Bank had allocated over 500 million drams for the construction of the road.

Of the $34.9 million allocated for the program–$31 million by the WB and $3.9 million by the Armenian Government–$27.8 million have already been used–with 560 kilometers of roads leading to Iran and Georgia repaired.
