Armenians Attend OSCE Economic Committee

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Deputy National Assembly Chairman of Armenia Rouben Miroyan and member of parliament Haroutiun Pamboukian recently visited Nantes–where they attended a session of the OSCE Committee on Economic Issues.

According to Rouben Miroyan–the session addressed problems–pertaining to environmental protection–21st century energy systems–peaceful use of atomic energy–economic development–population social condition and combating organized crime. One of the sessions–which dealt with organized crime–was chaired by Rouben Miroyan.

Miroyan stressed the importance of Armenia’s participation in the work of the session. According to him–the most important achievement was a proposal by Armenia to hold the next session of the OSCE Committee on Economic Issues in Yerevan.

The proposal was supported by the participants. Miroyan said that this step may have serious positive influence on Armenia’s international image–as well as strengthen Armenia’s international economic ties.

The press service of the National Assembly also said that the delegation led by Rouben Miroyan also participated in a 14th plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and a session of the council of leaders of parliamentary delegations.
