European Observers to Monitor Sunday’s Local Elections

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Ten observers who had arrived in Armenia to monitor this Sunday’s local elections were accredited by the Central Election Commission on October 21. The observers were accredited on the basis of a letter of the chief of the Secretariat of the Congress of Local and Territorial Authorities of the Council of Europe R. Locatelli. The group includes observers from Italy–France–Norway–Finland–Russia–Hungary and Lithuania.

The observers met with CEC Chairman Artak Sahradian. During an hour’s talk–Sahradian presented the course of preparations for the elections and answered the guests’ questions.

Two more observers of the same group will arrive in Armenia just before election day on October 24–CEC Secretary Armenuhi Zohrabian said.
