Exhibition of Papayan Paitings Opens At Painters Union

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A personal exhibition of paintings by Anatoly Papayan–a people’s artist of Armenia–opened at the Painters Union of Armenia on October 22. Papayan himself describes this exhibition as a retrospective display generally reflecting his life.

The exhibition features 69 works by the master created throughout his life. The oldest canvas on display was created in 1953 and the latest ones are efforts of this year.

"You managed to return what God bestowed on you," architect Jim Torosian said to the artist at the exhibition.

The oil-paintings and drawings reflect the author’s thoughts–desires and fantasies.

A personal exhibition is a remarkable event in the life of any artist–as it offers the artist an occasion to look at himself and become more critical of what he does–Papayan suggested.
