YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The newly appointed Ambassador of South Africa to Armenia Delarey Van Tonder presented his credentials to President Robert Kocharian on October 26.

The diplomat–who will reside in Kiev–assured the Armenian President of his country’s willingness to establish mutually advantageous cooperation with Armenia–the presidential press service said.

Congratulating the Ambassador on his new diplomatic mission–President Kocharian pointed out that both countries were in effective cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The formation of an appropriate legal framework for further bilateral relations will make it possible to shift this cooperation on to a more businesslike plane–Kocharian added.

The two also spoke about possible areas for cooperation. Kocharian stressed the importance of sharing information to enable the sides to get a better idea of each other’s possibilities and to identify the common grounds for cooperation.
