Armenia’s Positions in Negotiating Process May Weaken

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"A new situation emerged on the threshold of the Istanbul summit of the OSCE," Armenian Revolutionary Federation faction member Ruben Hakobian said responding to a question regarding the effect of the October 27 events on the Karabakh peace process.

In the deputy’s view–"the states that have their own interests in our region–primarily Azerbaijan and those supporting it–will try to take advantage of the situation–setting forth their own concepts of conflict settlement."

"It is to early to come to conclusions yet but it seems to me that Armenia’s position in the negotiating process may weaken–therefore–it’s worth discussing whether or not negotiations at this moment should proceed," Ruben Hakobian said.
