YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–New British Ambassador to Armenia Timothy Jones presented Thursday a copy of his credentials to deputy foreign minister of Armenia Armen Martirossian.
During the meeting the sides expressed content with the current level of political cooperation between the two countries–particularly stressing the role of previous ambassador John Mitchiner in this matter. The two also noted the importance of economic cooperation–in particular–in the banking sector. In this light–both sides stressed the significance of a business forum on Armenia’scheduled for next May in London.
Martirossian briefed the ambassador on the situation in Armenia and mentioned the October 27 killings in parliament. He stressed that Armenia’s democratic institutions were able to stand that hard test–proving that the democratic processes in the country are irreversible.
At the end of the meeting Martirossian wished the ambassador success in his diplomatic mission in Armenia.
