Armenian Stamps Exhibited

Armenian Philatelic Association played host to the first-ever public exhibition of Armenian stamps during the weekend of December 3 to 5 at Vahan and Anoush Chamlian Armenian School.

Exhibits of: stamps from the first Republic of Armenia–stamps of Soviet Armenia and stamps of USSR associated with Armenia’s–stamps of present-day Republic of Armenia and Republic of Artsakh; stamps of Cilicia; as well as worldwide international stamps and envelopes featuring renowned Armenia’s such as postage stamp designers–famed photographs–painters–world champion were featured during the exhibit.

The Armenian Philatelic Association–ARPA–was established in 1997–in Los Angeles–Ca. Presently there are about 70 members. ARPA is a non-profit–specialized organization with open membership to Armenian philatelists and individuals interested in Armenian postage stamps and related subjects.

The exhibit featured Armenian-themed stamps from 80 countries. Of note were stamps issued in Uruguay marking the 71st anniversary of the Armenian Genocide–stamps commemorating Near East Relief’s efforts during the Genocide and a 1921 Syrian issue stamps commemorating victims of the Genocide who fled Armenia via Der-Zor.
