Three Charged With Complicity to Hostage Standoff

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Three persons have been accused of being connected to the December 9 hostage standoff at the Yerevan Teachers Training Institute–where 17-year-old resident of Artik–Artyem Minassian was fatally wounded by police after taking 15 students and the school’s deputy director hostage.

In an interview with Noyan Tapan spokesman for the Prosecutor General of Armenia Gourgen Hambarian said Minassian’s former classmates–Arman Arakian and Vagharshak Vardanian have charged for "kidnapping or illegal deprival of freedom" and "illegal possession of arms."

Charges on count 232 of the Criminal Law have been brought against director of a subsidiary of the sports and technical establishment of Artik Hovhannes Chichakian.

All the three have been arrested.
