Sargsyan Expects World Bank Loan on Time

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Talking to Noyan Tapan Armenian Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan said he does not see any problems in receiving the third tranche of the World Bank credit. Expressing optimism that the tranche will be received before the year’s end–the prime minister said: "If it is received before the New Year–then we will be given a present. If not–it will still be timely. In any case there will be no delay."

Responding to the question concerning problems with wages and social paymen’s–as well as the retirement of bonds late in December–Sargsyan said–"I will try to prevent these problems–but I cannot fully rule out their possibility."

The prime minister said that in the unlikely case of a delay–"we will rely on ourselves."

World Bank Regional Director for Armenia and Georgia–Judy O’Connor–who arrived in Yerevan last week said that the sum will be delayed. The issue of granting the $25 million credit to Armenia will be submitted to the World Bank Board of Directors who will determine whether the Armenian government has fulfilled its commitmen’s under the agreement with the World Bank.
