LOS ANGELES–Debbie Poochigian and Steven N. Samuelian were recently appointed to Governor W. Bush’s grassroots volunteer organization in California. Under the leadership of three statewide chairpersons–California will be organized into five separate regions–each divided into individual counties and congressional districts.

More than 100 volunteers were named to organize and coordinate areas such as coalitions–endorsemen’s–get-out-the-vote–communications–and youth/college programs in each individual district.

Debbie Poochigian was appointed Central Region Chair. Steven N. Samuelian was appointed as Co-Chairs of Area 11.

"The enthusiasm for George W. Bush in the Central Valley has allowed us to mobilize a sweeping–grassroots organization," said Central Region Chair Debbie Poochigian. "We proudly boast that this is the richest agriculture regions in the country. There is also strong interest in expanding out economic base. We represent the kind of civic–cultural–and economic diversity that makes the Governor of Texas a very natural fit for our region. There is great anticipation in the air as we work to unite the party of Lincoln behind George W. Bush."

The statewide volunteer structure is a series of regions–areas and "Bush Districts." There are five geographic regions which are subdivided into 18 areas and then divided again into 81 Bush Districts. Each Bush District is a county of congressional district.
