World Bank to Organize Forum of Caucasus Cooperation

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–During Baku consultations–the US ambassadors to the Caucasus and Central Asian countries also discussed the Karabakh conflict in terms of possible assistance of the world community in its settlement–Advisor to the US Secretary of State Bill Taylor told Armenian Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan in Yerevan.

Taylor said prior to his regional tour–he had meetings at the World Bank during which bank officials expressed readiness to organize a forum of Caucasus cooperation with the participation of financial institutions and donors. Taylor said that a group of international experts would visit the region soon to explore the available resources and draw up a report for the World Bank. The World Bank will develop specific programs to be submitted to donors.

Bill Taylor stressed the importance of creating a proper environment for enterprise development–an appropriate framework to stimulate investmen’s. He also stressed the need to document the right to land.

Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan shared the opinion about the possibilities of holding a Caucasus forum of cooperation and the agreement now ready for signing whose results will be tangible in the time to come. However–there are urgent problems solutions to which cannot be delayed. These include higher living standards and development of the country’s economic potential. Speaking of the formation of a land market–the prime minister said that it was a property right certificate that he had issued first.
