YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Prime Minister Aram Sargsyan held a meeting February 1 with World Bank representatives to discuss the allocation of SAC-4.
The WB representatives pointed out that the credits must be channeled to economic development–in particular–to the creation of jobs–development of the private sector–and social reforms. They also pointed out the importance of enhancing the efficiency of the privatization process–encouraging investmen’s–stimulating exports–and creating favorable conditions for business development. The sides also discussed issues of reforming Armenia’s irrigation system.
Emphasizing the importance of cooperation with international financial institutions–the Armenian prime minister pointed out that raising the people’s living standards is possible only by creating new jobs and organizing reproduction. Sargsyan pointed out that measures are being taken to enhance the efficiency of the privatization process and make it more transparent. As to the reforming of the irrigation system–the prime minister attached importance to the installation of water gauges–which will improve payment collection.
