EU Rep. Reports Considerable Progress in Human Rights in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–National Assembly Standing Foreign Relations Commission Chairman Hovhannes Hovhannissian met with Head of the European Union Commission’s Delegation to Armenia Elio Jermano.

The EU representative says serious efforts are being made in Armenia in this direction; serious progress is being observed in human rights protection; and the country’s legislation has been considerably improved.

The sides reportedly stressed the important role of the EU Commission in rendering technical assistance to the Armenian legislature in its work.

The two also pointed to the great role of the Commission in developing Armenia-EU relations–especially in terms of developing and implementing joint programs.
