Oskanian Returns From Bangkok

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On February 14–Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian returned to Yerevan from Bangkok where he attended the 10th session of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The Armenian delegation also included Minister of Industry and Trade Karen Chshmaritian and Deputy Foreign Minister Armen Martirossian.

The day before the session began the Armenian delegation was received by Thai Foreign Minister Surin Pitsuvan. During the meeting the two foreign ministers discussed ways of developing bilateral relations–expressing a willingness to give a fresh impetus to these relations.

The sides also exchanged views on the positive and negative factors of the process of globalization–issues pertaining to cooperation within various international economic and financial institutions as well as to Armenia’s bid for membership in the World Trade Organization.

The same day the Armenian delegation was received by Thailand’s Minister of Technologies–Science and Nature Protection.

The sides discussed possibilities and prospects of developing scientific and technical cooperation between the two states.

As part of the forum Oskanian and Chshmaritian held working meetings with heads of international and economic institutions and representatives of other participating countries.
