Parliamentary Delegation to Participate in CIS Meeting

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation of the Armenian National Assembly lead by Speaker Armen Khachatrian will leave for St. Petersburg to participate in the first meeting of the CIS council of Interparliamentary Assembly (IA) scheduled for March 4.

Participating in the meeting will be Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Russian Federal Assembly Yegor Stroyev–Speaker of the Russian State Duma Genady Seleznyev–and speakers of the CIS Parliamen’s. They are to discuss prospects of CIS development–and the role of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in ensuring the CIS legal framework.

The participants will also discuss issues related to the execution of the decision on preventing terrorist acts in CIS territory–financing of the CIS for 2000–the confirmation of the newly elected chairmen of the CIS IA standing committees and proposals to be submitted by the CIS IA to the 103rd forum of the Interparliamentary Union.
