Smuggling Becomes Major Obstacle for Armenian Businessmen

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The wholesale market of Bagratashen located at the border between Armenia–Azerbaijan and Georgia has become a major obstacle for Armenian businessmen," said a senior official of the Armenian state revenues ministry March 3.

Grigor Melkonian–head of customs department–said that most of smuggling came in Armenian across Georgian border. "Armenian businessmen are trying to struggle against smuggled goods but unfortunately the Armenian government has not managed to solve this problem," he said.

Melkonian said that concrete proposals which are seen as efficient means for struggling against smuggling have been submitted to the government and will be considered soon.
