CPA Comments On The Investigation Interference of The National Television

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At the March 7 parliamentary meeting–Khoren Sargsian read out the statement issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia (CPA) and the CPA parliamentary faction. The document–which is a response to the "Unity" block’s statement of March 3–runs:

"It is strange that the National Television of Armenia–a national and government structure–ignores the current legislation–and tries to assume the function of control over the Prosecutor General of Armenia and over investigation being conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia. The overt tendency of interference in the activities of the preliminary investigation body can not be masked by the lofty idea of freedom of press and speech".

The Communists appealed to the president to "take all the necessary measures to ensure a normal and legal investigation process".
