NATO Secretary General to Visit Armenia in September

YEREVAN (Interfax)–NATO Secretary-General George Robertson is expected to visit Armenia in September.

An agreement to this effect was reached earlier this month–when an Armenian delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ruben Shugarian visited NATO headquarters in Brussels–the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s press secretary Ara Papian has told Interfax.

According to Papian–Robertson’s arrival will be preceded by a visit to Yerevan from NATO Deputy Secretary-General for Political Issues Klaus-Peter Kleiber in July.

During Robertson’s visit–the results of Armenian-NATO activities under the Partnership for Peace program will be summed up and the prospects for Yerevan’s further cooperation with the alliance–especially in peacekeeping operations–will be explored–Papian said.
