Oct. 27 Defendant’s Suit Rejected by Prosecutor

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–October 27th defendant and deputy director of the Armenia’s National Television Harutiun Harutiunian’s law suit against military prosecutors overseeing the investigation was thrown out of court Wednesday by Armenia’s prosecutor general Boris Nazarian.

Harutiunian filed suit last week–alleging mistreament and coercion by military prosecutors and claimed he was drugged during the investigation process.

The prosecutor general’s spokesperson said the decision to reject the law suit was made due to lack of evidence by the plaintiff and added that since the time of Harutiunian’s arrest on Jan. 5–he has not visited or needed any medical attention by the prison medical professionals.

The prosecutor general’s office is currently investigating a similar suit filed by another defendant in the case–parliament member Moushegh Movsisian–who alleged similar misconduct in his petition.
