IUL Chairman Concerned Over Lawyers’ Problems

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–For the problems of lawyers’ protection–training–retraining and material support to be solved–the three unions of lawyers of Armenia must combine efforts–Chairman of the International Union of Lawyers (IUL) Tigran Janoyan said at the IUL general meeting March 18. He said that his organization presented to two other lawyers’ organizations–the International Union of Armenian Lawyers and the Union of Armenian Lawyers–the draft regulations for establishing a single structure to deal with the aforementioned problems. Only the former of the two mentioned organizations approved the regulations.

Janoyan said the IUL has joined the CIS Association of Lawyers–enabling Armenian lawyers at the Association’s request to exercise their professional activity in CIS countries.

Besides the annual IUL report–the meeting elected lawyer Robert Poghossian to receive a special license which gran’s the lawyer the right to appeal against court decisions at the Court of Cassation five years after their being made.
