Ad Hoc Commission to Continue Work Assures Chairman Lokian

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–David Lokian–the chairman of the parliament ad hoc commission set up for discovering and examining facts about misuse and misappropriations of loans and budget allocations for import of fuel in 1992-96–said that the recent attack on the shop leased by commission’s member Manuk Gasparian’s family is immediately connected with the facts unveiled by the commission March 22.

"I have no doubts that the attack was provoked by our commission’s work," said Lokian. He said that the commission will undertake all measures to ensure the safety of its members. "This is a parliament commission set up with the government’s agreement–and all state structures have to support its work," said Lokian.

David Lokian also referred to some recent publications in the press which are trying to question the identity of facts revealed by the commission. "It is not a secret that newspapers in Armenia are controlled by political and economic groupings–each pursuing personal interests," said Lokian.
