Turkish Organization Threaten Law Suits

ISTANBUL (Marmara)–The Istanbul-based Marmara Armenian daily newspaper reported in its Wednesday issue that organization lobbying for Turkish interests and corporation which defend Turks threatened to sue television channels which cover Armenian issues.

These pro-Turkish organizations asserted that the broadcast channels "mislead" US public opinion regarding the Turks. Thus–the organizations said–the law suits would become an appropriate "slap" in the faces of the Armenian-American community and entities which support them.

These organizations have said that the best method to silence the Armenian community is through these law suits.

Meanwhile–the Turkiye newspaper reported that Republican presidential hopeful George W. Bush recently met with the chairman of the Turkish-American Society Ecemen Bacis and told the Turkish leader that "for me the Turkish support is crucial–even following the elections."

According to the Turkish newspaper–Bush–who had made supportive commen’s regarding the Armenian Genocide–retracted those statemen’s during the meeting with Bacis–which was reportedly attended by New York Governor George Pataki.
