YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Defense Minister Serge Sargssian–who is also the Secretary of the Presidential National Security Council–is expected to meet with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on June 27.
Serge Sargssian was received by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov–June 27. During the meeting–which was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere–the sides discussed the politico-military as well as economic relations between the two countries–outlining concrete trends of their further development and deepening.
Earlier–on June 26–Serge Sargssian met with Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergey Ivanov. The two discussed the current state of Armenian-Russian political–military and economic relations and prospects of their further development. The sides signed a program of cooperation between the Security Councils of Russia and Armenia for 2000-2001 as well as a protocol on the establishment of groups to coordinate this cooperation.
The same day Sargssian met with Russia’s Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev. The sides discussed Armenian-Russian military cooperation. Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergey Ivanov was also attending that meeting.
