Meghri Region Development Program Approved

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The government has approved the program of developing the Meghri region. The program has been under elaboration since last spring–and some of the measures included in it have already been implemented. The program indicates social–economic–cultural and educational measures–the terms of their implementation and sources of financing.

By its decision–the government approved the new rules of supply–use and registration of irrigation water. The rules regulates the supplier-consumer relations–raises the efficiency of consumer organizations’ activities. The new rules stipulate the responsibility of water suppliers and water consumers who break contracts.

On July 6–the government also approved the order of privatization of state property though the issue of new shares. The order provides for the increase of capital for the privatized companies over 50 percent of whose shares are held by the government.

The government also approved the order of submitting applications and issuing long-term soft credits for housing construction to the repressed people and their children. 1 percent annual interest credits for a period of 25 years will be issued to the repressed people and their children whose flats were seized and no compensation has yet been made for them.
