International Conference On Internet Held in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The international conference on Internet and society held in Yerevan in late July discussed the development and application of modern information and communication technology. The results of the conference were summarized at a news conference on August 1.

Founder of the Fund of Modern Technologies and Director of the conference Karekin Chugaszian said that participating in the conference were experts–representatives of government–public and international organizations from Europe–USA–Russia–Ukraine–Georgia–Azerbaijan–Armenia and the Diaspora.

According to Chugaszian–the conference participants discussed issues on Internet regulation and further globalization as well as the development of cooperation in our region. He expressed that Armenia has the possibility to produce information technologies–much more so than developed countries are ready to issue gran’s for the development of these technologies. In this aspect–the realization of the Internet’s potential by the government and public is of paramount importance. Chugaszian said that the progress in the sphere of information technologies in Armenia is possible–provided that the government–public and business community unite their efforts.
