STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–In his interview to the Artsakh television on August 3–Nagorno Karabakh Republic President Arkady Ghoukassian gauged the bilateral meetings undertaken by the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in a bid to find a solution to the protracted conflict in Karabakh as very important to the Karabakh settlement–but not satisfactory.
According to Arkady Ghoukassian–Baku is trying to show that the conflict is a matter between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Yet–the President noted–it does not correspond to reality–and the international community realizes that the problem cannot be solved without taking Nagorno Karabakh’s opinion into account.
"Nagorno Karabakh is able to assert its interests in the negotiations–and I think–it will have such an opportunity. Our position has not changed. We declared the Republic’s independence and de-facto achieved it. To some extent–the Republic has obtained independence also de-jure–and the permanent representations we have in a number of countries are a clear evidence of this," the Nagorno Karabakh Republic President emphasized.
