Embassy Holds Reception for Armenian Doctors

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–The Armenian embassy in Washington–along with the Armenian-American Health Association of Greater Washington held a meeting–August 2. The meeting was followed by a reception–in honor of the sixteen leading public health officials and doctors from Armenia–who were attending a two week workshop in Washington–DC on the American health care system and on Armenian health care reform.

The Armenian delegates represented various health agencies and organizations in Armenia. The goal of the program was to provide them with more information on reforming primary and preventive health care–restructuring health care finance–and making health care delivery more affordable–accessible and competitive.

The study tour began in June with a two-week program in Kazakhstan–aiming to provide the participants with more practical knowledge of reforming primary and preventive health care in former Soviet counties with centralized economies. The United States study tour featured numerous practical site visits–meetings and technical briefings.

The workshop was organized by the Institute for Public-Private Partnerships in conjunction with the USAID and the Academy for Educational Development’s Global Training for Development Projects.
