Archaeologists Complete Excavations in Aragats Region

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A joint expedition involving archeologists from the USA and Armenia completed a two month excavation at the foot of Mount Aragats–famous for its ancient monumen’s. The group of American specialists were led by professor Adam Smith of the Chicago University.

Ruben Badalian–the head of the expedition–told Armenpress that by using advanced equipment–the archaeologists studied fortresses–settlemen’s and tombs left from the Bronze-Early Iron Age near the villages of Tsakhkahovit–Hnaberd and Gegharot.

"It is the second season that we have work together"–said Ruben Badalian adding that the outcome of the studies of Armenian monumen’s dating back 3-5 thousand years ago is to be summed up and published in a separate book.
