YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–About 100 artists from over 20 countries including Russia–Georgia–Cyprus–Argentina–Turkey–Germany and Australia are participating in the second International biennial of modern art that was officially opened at the Academy of Art in Gumri Saturday. During the month of August–participants in the festival held under the motto–"Passage to the zero point," will present their works reflecting their interpretation of the "zero point" – the year 2000.
According to the organizers of Biennial-II–the number of foreign painters wishing to participate in the exhibition is quite high–so the Biennial-II will be held on two stages. Other foreign artists will also participate in the second round scheduled for next month.
Biennial-II was organized with the assistance of the Gumri Municipality–the Gumri Center of Modern Art and International Center for Human Development.
It should be mentioned that the First Biennial was held in Gumri in 1998.
