Amendmen’s to Armenia’s Constitution to Be Examined

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Amendmen’s to the first and second chapters of the Armenia’s Constitution elaborated by the Constitution Amendment Commission have been sent to Germany to be examined by local experts–Civil and Coordinator of the Economic Legislation Reform Program of the GTZ Yerevan Office Vardan Poghossian told Noyan Tapan.

Poghossian–who is a graduate of the Moscow Institution of Foreign Relations and Bonn University–sees no motivation of the proposed changes to chapter 2 (Human Rights and Liberties). Seminars with the participation of the parties concerned (the Constitutional Court of Armenia–the National Assembly’s Legal Service–the Ministry of Justice of Armenia) must be held to redress this mistake–he believes.

The participation of the German’side–according to Poghossian–will be limited by the professional aspect. GTZ experts will explore ways of solving the problem of the transitional period–basing on democratic development and without touching upon the political aspects in Armenia.
