YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenian prime minister Andranik Markarian paid a visit on August 30 to the Republican Stadium in central Yerevan to see how the reconstruction work was going.
Suren Abrahamian–the president of Armenian Soccer Federation–said that if the current speed of reconstruction was maintained–the stadium would be ready for October seven’s Armenia-Ukraine World Cup qualifying match. This will be the first stadium in Armenia to comply with the international standards and will have 17,000 seats.
The prime minister said he would attend the October 7 match. When asked what his prognosis for the September 2 Norway-Armenia match was–he said it would end in a draw. He also encouraged the members of the Armenian national soccer team–who were practicing there at the moment–saying that their successful playing has a very positive impact on every Armenian.
