Peace Day Marked in Armenia

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A public organization ‘The Third Millennium Without Wars" celebrated Tuesday as "Peace Day" in Armenia. A 1981 UN General assembly declaration proclaimed each third Tuesday of September as Peace Day. The organization will join ‘Minute of Silence,’ an internationally held event.

"Many members of our organization actively participated in the national liberation movement since 1988. They saw all the hardships–sufferings and tragedies caused by war–felt its pain and no one else can better appreciate the cost of peace," Vahan Vardanian–the chairman of the organization told Armenpress.

The organization called on all Armenia’s to think about peace by observing a moment of silence for one minute at 12.00 p.m. today.
