Armenia Takes Steps to Ensure Membership into WTO

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Armenia’s deputy trade and industry minister Tigran Davtian told Armenpress that Armenian authorities are to hold negotiations with American and Canadian representatives in mid-October in an attempt to overcome some controversial issues hindering Armenia’s accession to the World Trade Organization.

Davtian expressed hope that Armenia would become a WTO member by the end of the current year without considerable concessions. Davtian also said that Armenia’s membership in the WTO will allow the country to acquire the most efficient trade regime in the sphere of international trade with WTO member-countries. WTO membership is also another guarantee for attracting new investmen’s into the country.
