Seminars On Christianity Law Open in Yerevan

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–A two-day international conference on Christianity and Law–organized by Armenia’s Constitutional Court and Armenian Church opened at the headquarters of the Church in Saint Echmiadzin on October 4.

The primary objective of the conference is to draw attention to the issues pertaining to the spiritual awareness and civilian stance of an individual–to stress that having a law-abiding citizen with stable faith is beneficial for the country’s development," the chairman of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutunian told Armenpress.

Harutunian said that centuries of existence without statehood have left their mark on Armenia’s’ stance–their approaches towards law and justice and comprehension of solid values.

The head of the Armenian Church Catholicos Karekin II said that he hoped the conference would help improve the legislative field–to revise the Constitution and create legislative basis for state-Church relations.

The conference will discuss issues related to the origin and sources of justice–human rights–biblical sources of Law and its moral and religious aspects.
