YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–US Ambassador Michael Lemmon has confirmed the information on the allocation of $600,000 for drought relief in Armenia. The aid will be distributed among the farmers who have incurred the greatest losses during the drought period. About 6,000 farmers in Armenia will be provided with winter wheat seeds.

The sum allocated under the program of drought relief is to be spent on the purchase of 1,600 tons of locally grown winter wheat along with shoveling and packaging–US Embassy officials said. The seeds will be sold to farmers at a 75 percent discount.
