Markarian Meets with Russian Ambassador to Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Andranik Markarian welcomed the Russian Ambassador to Armenia–Anatoly Driukov Thursday. The two discussed Armenian-Russian cooperation in various spheres.

According to the government’s press service–Markarian stressed the importance of quick and effective fulfillment of top-level agreemen’s reached between the two countries–taking into account the interests of both nations. Markarian stated that not only political–military and technical but also economic cooperation is important in relations between Armenia and Russia as strategic partners. In particular–it is important to boost efforts on attracting private Russian capital to Armenia.

The sides also discussed the work of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation affairs. Markarian stated that his cabinet is continuing the policies of the two previous governmen’s aimed at developing mutually advantageous cooperation with Russia in various spheres.

Ambassador Driukov stressed the importance of expanding and developing trade and economic links between the two countries. He said Russian business circles are interested in Armenian industry and want to conduct business more vigorously on the Armenian market.
