Yerevan Foreign Languages Institute to Offer Farsi

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Farsi–the official language of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been taught–along with European languages as an optional subject–for three years at the Yerevan Institute of Foreign Languages.

Following today’s meeting with Iran’s ambassador to Yerevan–Farhad Koleini–the Institute’s rector Souren Zolian told Armenpress that beginning with the 2001 academic year students will be given an opportunity to choose Farsi as their specialization. The ambassador has pledged to help establish the Farsi language library at the institute.

At the end of the meeting Koleini was awarded the Institute’s highest award and became a member of the Scientific Board. After the meeting Koleini met with the students.
