Lawyer’s Appeal Turned Down

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–Marusya Chilingarian–lawyer of Ashot Knyazian who is accused of being involved in the October 27 parliament killings by driving the van to the parliament building and possessing illegal arms–told Armenpress that she had finished getting acquainted with the files of the criminal case and lodged an appeal to chief military prosecutor’s office requesting that her client’s case be closed.

The prosecutor’s office turned down her appeal saying it was groundless.

Artak Harutunian–the head of the investigation department of the prosecutor’s office said that Prime Minister Andranik Margarian is also getting acquainted with the files of the case.

Artak Harutunian said that the deputies who were taken hostage by the terrorists–the parliament staff and government members refused to get acquainted with the files–with the exception of parliament members Aghvan Vardanian from the ARF and Hayk Babukhanian from the Constitutional Right Union.

Out of 91 parliament members and government officials who were taken hostages–only three expressed willingness to get acquainted with the files of the case.
