Composite Libraries to Be Established

YEREVAN (Armenpress)–An Armenian delegation led by head of the Yerevan National Library David Sargissian–took part in the world assembly devoted to the establishment of composite libraries of the Open Society University held in Budapest from November 10 to 11.

Sargissian said that all the countries in which the Soros Fund operates–presented their suggestions and opinions concerning the issue of having on-line libraries.

Sargissian believes that Armenia has taken its first steps. Ten large libraries have already united and the councils of libraries will be formed in accordance with the type of the library. He expressed hope that an Armenian National Bibliography card index will be established–which will give an opportunity of getting acquainted with Armenian literature. Due to the composite library on-line informational net–Armenian readers will have the opportunity to be aware of world literature.
