United Kindgom Refuses to Mark Armenian Genocide

ISTANBUL (Marmara)–According to Turkish sources–the British government has decided to exclude the Armenian Genocide from its forthcoming Day of Remembrance of People .

The British Independent Daily criticized the government’s decision–accusing it of caving into Turkish pressure. The paper’s Middle Eastern correspondent Robert Fisk–who has been banned from Turkey due to his anti-Turkish writings–once again defended the Armenia’s by reaffirming the genocide which occurred in eastern Anatolia at the turn of the twentieth century. Fisk stated the Armenia’s must be remembered alongside the millions of Jews who perished at the hands of the Nazis during World War II.
