Parliament Adopts 2001 State Budget

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–On December 30–the National Assembly adopted the 2001 state budget by 100 votes to 14–with 5 abstentions. 119 out of 131 deputies attended the meeting. In their speeches following the debate and prior to the vote–representatives of the parliamentary commissions–factions and groups said they would vote in favor of the budget. Communists said they would oppose the bill.

The revenue pattern of the 2001 budget amounts to 193,399,549,500 drams; the budget’s expenditure pattern is fixed at 247,231,793,400 drams. A deficit of 53,832,244,800 drams is foreseen.
